Career Capstone FAQs
Why is this called Career Capstone?
We believe the whole of your life is meant to be meaningful, energizing, and fulfilling — including retirement. But too often, retirement can feel lonely, aimless, or disconnected from your purpose.
What if, instead, retirement became the capstone of your career — the crowning achievement of a life well lived? What if this season could hold more meaning, connection, and contribution than ever before, while still honoring the changes that come with this stage?
That’s what Career Capstone is designed to help you create.
How is this different from retirement planning like I’d get from my financial advisor?
While financial readiness is one of Career Capstone’s 11 focus areas, your retirement is about much more than money.
In this program, you’ll get reintroduced to your True Self and Best Work, and receive thoughtful guidance on other key areas of life design — from living arrangements to legal documents, from rethinking relationships to finding meaningful ways to contribute.
This is whole-life retirement planning, not just financial planning.
I’m pretty busy. How much time is this going to take?
Each of your 11 weekly, guided conversations lasts 60 minutes. Before each conversation, you’ll complete about an hour of pre-work — including a short video and some personalization exercises designed to create real-time progress.
So expect about 2 hours per week during your time in Career Capstone. Think of this as investing a few hours a week in designing a future that deeply matters to you — perhaps replacing a few episodes of your favorite show, or an evening out.
Are these sessions in-person? Or virtual?
That depends on whether your Guide lives in your area and their preferences for meeting. If available, you can meet in-person at a neutral location or one of your choosing.
In most cases, sessions happen virtually over Zoom, making scheduling simple and convenient no matter where you are.
How many people have been through this program?
Career Capstone is a new program from Vocationality, but it’s built on years of experience.
Vocationality has helped hundreds of people navigate major career transitions, grounded in True Self and Best Work. Dr. Will Gray, Vocationality’s founder, co-designed Career Capstone and co-leads the pre-work videos.
Alan Bunn, the other program co-designer, brings 20 years of experience advising adults and families through these topics, having worked personally with well over a hundred individuals.
Can I reschedule a session if something comes up?
Yes. While we encourage setting a consistent weekly rhythm, we understand that conflicts can arise. You can reschedule individual sessions directly with your Guide, who will work with you to find a new time.
Do I have to complete the program in 11 weeks?
Not necessarily. The ideal pace is one session per week, but we can adjust if life events require a slower cadence. Your Guide can help you set a pace that works for you.
Also, you’ll have access to this program permanently, since you’ll likely want to return to it in the future. Take it at a pace that works best for you.
Do I meet with the same Guide the whole time?
Yes — part of the value of Career Capstone is working consistently with one dedicated Guide who gets to know you well throughout the process.
Is this program just for people who are retiring right now?
No. Career Capstone is for anyone approaching retirement or already in it but wanting to rethink this next chapter with more purpose and clarity. Whether you’re a year away, recently retired, or already a few years in, this program can help you design what’s next.
What if I’m not very comfortable with technology?
No. Career Capstone is for anyone approaching retirement or already in it but wanting to rethink this next chapter with more purpose and clarity. Whether you’re a year away, recently retired, or already a few years in, this program can help you design what’s next.
